August 9-12 2009
Information Systems Research Seminar in Scandinavia
Conference format
  • IRIS Association (Information Systems Research Seminar in Scandinavia ) a chapter of the Association of Information Systems (AIS) has the pleasure of inviting researchers to submit scholarly articles to the 32nd IRIS in Molde Norway. The theme to be highlighted by keynote speakers this year is "Inclusive Design".
  • What is "Inclusive Design"? From an initial and loosely defined standpoint it describes an information systems design process that includes all stakeholder groups (such as customers and system developers). However, it could also be a design process that is open to new stakeholder groups that were not envisaged at the start of a process. For example, if an eDemocracy portal is the product of focus, perhaps the design process of this product would result in a product that addresses the needs of a group of persons with disability, although such group might not have been considered at intial stages of design. Research on flexible design methods would also fall into the category of "inclusive design".
  • IRIS32 accepts contributions on a wide variety of topic and themes. These include but are not limited to research issues related to the development, implementation, use, and evaluation of information systems at different organizational levels and in both private and public sectors. The contributions can be, but need not be related to the conference theme of "Inclusive Design".  Articles submissions can be made under submenu item “Paper Submission”.
  • The IRIS (Information systems research seminar in Scandinavia ) began in 1978 is the eldest established IS seminar in the world. The seminar offers a unique format that utilizes “Working Groups” and networking activities such as the “IRIS Games” which contribute to the establishment of meaningful professional relationships that can have lifelong impact on careers. The conference is especially fruitful to PhD students who are establishing new networks and to aid them in raising the quality of research to a publishable level. Editors of international journals such as MISQ, ISJ and SJIS are frequent attendants of IRIS. Lastly IRIS provides mid-career and senior researchers with the opportunity to disseminate a Scandinavian approach to IS research. We encourage researchers at every level to submit articles.
  • A "Working Group" is composed of the authors of 5-6 papers and a session leader. All the author participants will have opportunity to discuss their papers and their research design within the working group.
