About the project
In the project "Dimensions of Sustainability? – Governance, Knowledge, and Local Impacts in Norwegian Transport Policy and Planning" I explore how “sustainability” is understood and practiced in Norway’s transport sector. Through three linked studies, the project traces the journey from national goals to on‑the‑ground outcomes, asking what happens when large infrastructure projects encounter local landscapes, communities, and decision‑makers.
Using qualitative case studies, interviews, and policy analysis, the research aims to reveal how planning actually unfolds in municipalities, the trade‑offs politicians and planners face, and the social, ecological, and economic consequences for people and places.
