The project:
My PhD project explores how elite women's football clubs can be organised in response to increasing demands for professionalisation.
Women's football is experiencing significant growth both internationally and nationally, and professionalisation has become a central objective for football associations, leagues, and clubs. At the same time, many clubs face challenges related to capacity, organisation, expertise, and financial resources.
Through a case study of elite women's football clubs in Norway, the project examines how clubs respond to increasing demands for professionalisation, the challenges and opportunities they encounter, and how they develop their organisations over time. The project aims to contribute knowledge on organisation, leadership, and professionalisation in women's football, and to provide insights that are relevant for both research and practice.
