Background
Has a professional degree in agronomy (Sivilagronom) from The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (1987) and experience from government support services for agriculture in Norway (1987-98). Took a MSc at Purdue University (2000) and PhD at Cornell University (2005) in the USA in Agricultural Economics. Has been employed by Molde University College since 2007.
Research interests are sustainable food production and supplies. Has participated in research projects on modernization of agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa, with experience from field work in Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi. Is currently participating in an international research project about the linkages between local and global food supply chains, with partner institutions in Great Britain, the Netherlands, and several Asian countries.
