The research group’s core focus is healthcare personnel’s health literacy sensitivity, defined as the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to effectively meet the health literacy needs of patients and their families. A health literacy intervention is planned for implementation across four Norwegian hospitals. This intervention is designed to strengthen organizational resources, enhance clinical routines, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
The intervention aims to reduce the burden associated with health literacy–sensitive responsibilities, while increasing healthcare personnel’s awareness, competence, and confidence in delivering health literacy–responsive care. Following implementation, the project will also examine patients’ reported experiences of information and guidance. In addition, the research group will conduct projects on health literacy among patients' next of kin, as well as on digital and organizational health literacy.
Mental and occupational well-being are also foundational pillars of the research group’s work.
Future research directions include cost–benefit analyses of interventions targeting mental and occupational health, as well as evaluations of implementation efficiency to support scalable and sustainable solutions.
The research group employs a range of methodological approaches and is committed to generating knowledge that is directly applicable to clinical practice.
