SCM305 Applied Management Science (Autumn 2018)

About the course

Emphasis in this course is placed on practical problem solving and how to apply Excel and other publicly available software to solve real life problems in logistics and business administration. Some examples of topics that are addressed are analysis and monitoring of a purchasing portfolio, analysis of a company's working capital development, profitability and risk assessment when facing different business solutions and analysis of bottlenecks in business processes.

The student's learning outcomes after completing the course

After completing the course, the student should:

  • Strengthen the ability of practical and realistic problem solving
  • Develop ability to assess data quality
  • Apply spreadsheet and other software for decision support

Forms of teaching and learning

Multiple gatherings of 2 full days in the PC lab that is concluded with handing in a report. 2 of these reports will be graded, the rest will be pass/non-pass.
