About the course

Binary number systems. Digital representation and transformation. A bit about computer architecture and technologies for storage, input and output. Local networks and internets. Software and architecture. Information design and object orientation. Security. Web technology. Sensor technology (Internet of Things), and current technologies such as artificial intelligence. How technology affects man, society and climate.

The student's learning outcomes after completing the course

The student will have acquired knowledge of how data, hardware and software are constructed, and skills in analyzing simple technical problems. Using this knowledge and these skills, the student will be competent to contribute and give qualified evaluations regarding pros and cons of current technologies. 

Forms of teaching and learning

Teaching is based on video and lab assistance. In addition to reading text books and other materials, one must also perform practical exercises on one's own computer. Some exercises will be mandatory.
