Societal growth and all economic activities are rooted in the availability of energy. The energy sector includes companies that extract, produce, transport, transfer/distribute and sell various forms of energy, both renewable and non-renewable. Norway is a large energy producer and a stable supplier of oil, gas, and electricity to its neighboring countries. The petroleum sector makes up a significant proportion of the Norwegian economy, it continues growing and it is assumed to have a sizable demand for job positions in the coming years.
The energy sector is inherently made up of networks and infrastructures, and so, for this sector to efficiently operate, logistical challenges are of vital importance. These challenges include logistics network design, planning flows and routes, coordinating storage and warehousing with transportation, and overall supply chain management specific to this sector.
