About the course
The course aims at introducing the students to issues related to the management of events. Specifically, the following topics will be introduced:
Central concepts, theories and issues on event organisations - Block I
Key event stakeholders - Block II (Germany)
Operation management techniques, including project management and supply chain management (SCM) - Block III
An excursion to Germany is organised in collaboration with Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany. The trip gives the students valuable insight in specific event case studies. The trip is mandatory for the students and Molde University College covers all cost related to travel and housing. Students must pay own food and personal costs.

The student's learning outcomes after completing the course
Completing this course the candidate should be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge of different types of events
Understand the roles of different key event stakeholders
Understand the key aspects of sports events
Demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and theories of sport events
Understand the specific management characteristics of sport events
Understand the role of logistics in events.
Understand different perspectives and practices of supply chain management and how various supply chains interact during an event.
Understand the needs to plan events carefully
Forms of teaching and learning
The course is organised in three blocks (two blocks in Molde and one in Germany).
Instruction consists of classroom teaching, tasks-in-class (e.g. presentations), reading and assignments to be submitted to the teacher, and working in groups in and between seminars.
Practical cases will be included and integrated with the theories.
