Programme content

Logistics deals with the organization of the flow of products, services and information from the raw materials to the end user, and builds on a broad spectrum of academic disciplines. For a large number of industrial and business companies, achieving high quality logistics operations will be the key competitive factor for future success. Oil and gas companies or other industry dealing with the energy sector are no exception from this. Today, all companies pay attention to what kind of energy source they use. This will be increasingly important in the future, as policy and regulations are likely to become stricter. The combined knowledge of energy markets and energy sources, as well as efficient logistics solutions, makes this program unique.

The international MSc program in Sustainable Energy Logistics at Molde University College – Specialized University in Logistics (HiMolde) , includes most of the courses from the previous international MSc program in Petroleum Logistics. Some of the courses are however, new courses. The program is held as a full-time program (120 ECTS credits) over two years in Molde, and consists of 90 ECTS credits of course work, and a MSc thesis of 30 ECTS credits in the fourth and final semester.

Along with presenting a broad range of logistics topics, the program gives an understanding of the energy situation in the world, comparing existing renewable energy sources, as well as non-renewable sources, in terms of costs, qualities and availability. The program also provides knowledge about efficient energy management, like e.g. dynamic purchasing from different energy sources, and analysis of energy use and emissions. The main objective is to give knowledge within a broad spectrum of energy topics in combination with logistics.
