Research Areas
My research is grounded in professional nursing education and focuses on the relationships between education, clinical practice, and the development of health and care services.
A central research area is quality in nursing education and clinical placements, including supervision and assessment of students. I have particularly worked with the phenomenon of “failing to fail”, which highlights challenges in assessing students who do not achieve expected learning outcomes. This work includes both qualitative and quantitative approaches, including the development and validation of measurement instruments, and is part of international research collaboration with researchers from the University of East Anglia.
I have also conducted research on evidence-based practice and the scientific foundations of nursing, with a focus on how students and healthcare professionals develop competence in critically appraising and applying research-based knowledge.
Another key area is interprofessional collaboration and service development. I have participated in an EU-funded Horizon 2020 project, which resulted in a scientific publication. I have also been involved in the national research project DIVA, which focuses on digital transformation and the development of sustainable health and care services. I also contribute as a co-author in the PhD project Digital Peer Support for Mental Health (DigiPer), which explores the use of digital support solutions for individuals with mental health challenges.
In recent years, my research has increasingly focused on health technology, digitalisation, and innovation in health and care services. This includes studies of:
- Digital collaboration in primary healthcare
- New service models, such as virtual wards
- The use of artificial intelligence in mental health care
- Responsible digital transformation, particularly in rural contexts
- Digital support solutions in mental health, including participation as a co-author in research on Digital Peer Support for Mental Health (DigiPer)
