About the course
The course complements the theory of supply chain management with the practical skills in how to deal with different managerial situations and to conduct decision-making processes effectively and efficiently. It specifically involves a discussion of the role of market demand in SCM, practical use of the future demand parameters in SCM, inventory management in supply chains, and modeling logistic problems with LINGO. The course combines qualitative methods of learning based on case study analysis with the quantitative examples used as a grounding for making decisions in supply chain management.

Knowledge
The successful candidate should by the end of the course:
Know the differences between different types of demand in SCM
Know how to use different demand scenarios in practice
Know basic methods of inventory management
Know how to calculate, compare and explain logistics performance index (LPI)
Skills
The successful candidate should by the end of the course:
Be able to execute demand forecasting in SC
Be able to execute the methods of inventory management in SC
Be able to use commercial optimization software tools like LINGO for solving optimization problems in logistics
General competence
The successful candidate should by the end of the course:
Be familiar with methods and techniques used for modeling and solving logistic problems that occurs in practice
Be aware of the potential value of integrating decision making, rather than making decisions sequentially
