Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems supports and automates the business processes of a company by integrating operations and sharing data across the entire company. The ERP system form the digital backbone of a company by executing its core business processes procurement, production, sales and distribution, and customer services. ERP systems enable real-time visibility supporting planning, coordination, and control within logistics and supply chain management. This course explores the role of ERP with emphasis on hands-on execution of business transactions in the SAP S/4 Hana ERP system for the core business processes at the operational level. A bottom-up learning approach is applied in which students link their operational experiences with theories achieved in other courses in logistics and supply chain management. The hands-on operations are linked with theoretical models of the corresponding business process models. On the tactical level, business-to-business (B2B) operations are executed in a role play of a global supply chain spanning several companies. Lastly, strategic level issues are covered by another role play where students act as sellers and buyers of an ERP system for a company.
