How to create powerpoint videos

If you have a PowerPoint presentation, as a starting point for a lecture, you can record what you want to say in advance and save it as a video.

1) Connect a microphone headset to your computer. It is important that you do this before proceeding to the next step.

2) Open the PowerPoint presentation you are going to use, then go to the Slide Show tab.

If you cannot find Slide Show in your version of PowerPoint, it must be updated to the latest version: Contact support@himolde.no support@himolde.no for assistance.

3) Click Record Slide Show and select Record from beginning.

You will now see the recording window:

  • If you want a small window with video of yourself; Click the camera icon in the bottom right corner of the window.

4) When you are ready to record, tap Record in the upper left of the recording window.

  • While the recording is in progress, you can move through the presentation, as if you were holding a regular lecture.

5) Press Stop to stop recording when finished.

6) To hear what you recorded, scroll back to the first slide and press Replay.

7) When you are finished recording, close the recording window.

8) Now you need to turn your PowerPoint into a video. Click the File tab in the upper left.

9) Select Export> Create Video> Select HD (720p) and press Create Video.

10) Save the file to your Desktop

The video export begins processing. This will take some time depending on how long the video is. You can keep track of the progress at the bottom of the PowerPoint window:

When the video is exported you can go to your desktop and open the video. Check that the recording is working and turned as you planned.

The next step is to upload the video in HiMolde's video streaming service Mediasite (Norwegian). Once the video is published in Mediasite you can post a link to it in Canvas.
