Doctoral research fellow / PhD student.
The aim of the PhD project is to contribute theoretically and methodologically to the research field within transport planning. The empirical material will be obtained from various Norwegian transport projects under the Ministry of Finance's planning regime; the governmental project model for megaprojects with estimated cost > 1000 mnok.
The main subject of research is the role of various actors and stakeholders in the early phases of the projects.

The stakeholders` game: Approaches to power in early transportation projects planning and policies.
Professional competence and field of interest:
- theories of power, rationality and knowledge / knowledge development
- regional planning and development
- megaproject management
- participation and participation processes, including communication / communication strategies
- Philosophy of Science and mixed Social Science methods, with particular interest in Critical realism (CR), Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and surveys.
Jan-Erik Kvåle holds a Master's degree in planning and management from Volda University College, with a professional specialization in analysis of plans and processes within transport.
