LOG904-157 Quality Management (Autumn 2018)

About the course

This course examines how managers initiate and lead quality improvement and process change.  The breadth of change includes creating a total quality environment as well as a quality system and includes lean operations management programs.  This requires students to: 1) analyze work processes to create improvement using basic tools, such as Run charts, Process Flow Charts, Pareto Diagram, Control Charts etc.  2) Use basic lean tools to improve value chain performance. For example, calculate takt time,  use heijunka/ workload control and visual mgt. 3) Demonstrate ability to lead towards a goal for example writing hoshins.

Topics covered: 1) customer satisfaction /focus; 2) Firm capability; 3)  Process discovery, control; and Improvement; 4) Standardized problem solving; 5) Aligning & leading organizational members; 6) Elements of quality management (standard work, control, accountability, engaging)
