About the course
Course content (abstract): The seminar gives outline of the offshore oil and gas supply chain, and gives an overview of offshore upstream logistics activities, including their planning and operations. The main focus of the seminar will be on decision support tools for planning of cargo and personnel transportation to and from offshore installations using vessels and helicopters.
Topics covered: Typical offshore upstream logistics activities. Cargo transportation from vendors to supply bases. Various support vessel planning. Helicopter transportation to installations. Emergency response system planning.

The student's learning outcomes after completing the course
The students will learn about offshore upstream logistics activities and typical planning problems and decision support tools used, how they can be formulated as optimization and simulation models, and how to implement them to use for the decision making and analyses.
Forms of teaching and learning
Teaching full days from Monday to Wednesday (including guest-lectures from industry), working on cases on Thursday, presentation of cases on Friday.
