LOG904-125 Transportation Infrastructure and Economic Development (Autumn 2021)

About the course

Course content (abstract): Governments’ decision-making with respect to large infrastructure projects is very often interlinked with efforts to stimulate growth in the economy. The aim of this seminar is therefore to give students a solid grasp of the fundamentals of how, when, why and to what extent transport infrastructure affects businesses and the economy. The course will also give students practical knowledge regarding how to evaluate transport infrastructure’s impact on the economy in a cost benefit analysis paradigm

 

 

Topics covered: Transport-economy concepts; Regional growth theories; Evidence of economic impacts; Practical case study estimating productivity impacts on GDP; GDP and Welfare; Valuing economy impacts in a cost benefit analysis; Workshop on incorporating wider economic impacts.
