Bakgrunn
Marko Begović er førsteamanuensis ved Høgskolen i Molde i Norge. Mellom 2021 og 2022 tjenestegjorde han som direktør med ansvar for idretts- og ungdomssaker i Montenegros regjering. Parallelt var Dr. Begović programleder for masterstudiet i sport management ved American University in the Emirates og gjesteprofessor ved Universitetet i Montenegro. Tidligere var han medlem av styrebyrået for idrett og arbeidsgruppen for god styring samt likestillingsrapportør i Europarådet. Hans omfattende erfaring innen internasjonale relasjoner, politikk, politikkutforming og forskning har påvirket arbeidet med Europarådets konvensjoner og resolusjoner, samt utviklingen av idrettspolitikk i hele Europa.
Begovićs første bok, utgitt på Routledge, Sports Policy and Politics in the Western Balkan, undersøker hvordan stater i den postsosialistiske vestbalkanske regionen har brukt idrett som et politisk virkemiddel, og hvordan idrett i regionen har blitt formet av politikk, historie og kultur.
