Mpilipili primary school

The headteacher at Mpilipili primary school is a specialised teacher, a previous project participant and still a hardworking agent of change. We went to Lindi, on the beautiful southern coast of Tanzania to find Seif.

Since Norway in 2019, many things has changed in Seif Mussa's life, and for people around him. His work has indeed resulted in important changes, including improved life quality for many children with disabilities and their parents. His inspiration seems to still be growing, as he focuses, in particular:

  • children’s right to protection from violence, and, hence, to stop the use of corporal punishment in schools
  • children’s right to go to school, hence, facilitation for children with disabilities
  • vocational training for children with disabilities, which is now being provided at Mpilipili.

The teachers at Mpilipili now join Seif as agents of change, although, in the beginning, they doubted his ideas. One teacher put it this way: ‘We thought it was impossible! How could we teach without using the stick? But now we know that it is working and that there are much better ways!’

His work for the best of children with disabilities at Mpilipili and elsewhere in his area, is well-known even beyond, thanks to publication such as on national TV. We are exited and grateful to Seif and everybody at Mpilipili primary school for the good work than you have done, and, most probably, will do in the future. Big up to all of you!
