Going for the PhD

"I am currently a PhD student at Innland Norway University of Applied Sciences. The Sport Management Master in Molde gave me practical and theoretical knowledge within sports management and laid the foundation for a career in academia. Thanks to the program, my passion for event management has grown even stronger."

"The master's in Sport Management in Molde gave me both valuable academic competence and practical work experience through the internship.

Academically, the students are challenged through relevant tasks that you also encounter as a leader in sports. We often got to choose our direction in tasks to sharpen your skills to match your interests and ambitions. After three theoretical semesters, the internship challenges the students in real situations in a sports organisation. This creates contacts, opens doors for future employment and gives the student important insight into how things work on the inside.

I currently work as a media manager, ticket manager and sales and marketing coordinator in the Norwegian premier league soccer club IK Start. I interned in the same club and got the job immediately after graduation. Without the Sport Management master study at Molde University College, the path to a professional career in top sport would have been much longer."

Alexander Korlath, Austria, 2021-2023

"My sport management studies taught me the latest event organization practices, presentation skills, finding creative solutions, and being adaptive to daily challenges in a vibrant and fast-paced working environment. Furthermore, I gained much knowledge by getting insights into the unique Norwegian sports system. Today, I work 60% as a project coordinator for sport for all events at Swiss-Ski (Swiss Skiing Federation) and 40% as a Personal Trainer at Tatkraft Creative Training in Berne, Switzerland. Both jobs are an exciting mix of planning diverse summer events to promote winter sports to youth and children and, on the other side, as a coach working intensively 1 to 1 with people and together reaching their specific goals."

Alexandra Blum, Switzerland, 2021-2023

I am working at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS). I applied for the job in May before graduating and was thrilled to get accepted. I work as a development coordinator, where I help carry out development projects in several skiing and snowboard disciplines. Additionally, I provide administrative support for non-Olympic disciplines such as Telemark, Speedski, and Grasski. My job is very versatile, and I learn new things every day. My master's degree in sports management from HiMolde taught me valuable skills such as presentation, organization, and innovative thinking. I am grateful for my experience studying in Molde, which prepared me for a career in the sports field.”

Jonas Otto Jensen, Norway, 2018-2020

"During my last semester of the master's degree, I got an internship in the Norwegain presmier league football club Lillestrøm SK. I was offered a part-time position after completing my studies. After a few months, I was "lent out" to LSK Kvinner, where I was offered a permanent job the following month. I am now in my fourth year in LSK Kvinner, where I have a dual role consisting of tasks related to social media and marketing/sales, as well as some event planning. The football industry is very broad and unique, so several of the subjects we covered in our master's degree are very useful to have in the background when working with such a wide range of tasks."

"Embarking on the Master's in Sports Management at HiMolde was a transformative journey that propelled my career to new heights. This program not only provided me with a comprehensive international perspective on sports organisations but also equipped me with up-to-date insights into the dynamic European sports landscape.

One standout area was the in-depth exploration of sports marketing, which played a pivotal role in securing my position at the globally renowned sportswear brand Helly Hansen. The program's robust curriculum not only honed my strategic skills but also instilled a profound understanding of the intricate workings of the sports industry."
