Swati Aggarwal
Lecture: Bridging Minds and Machines: Towards Human-Centric Artificial Intelligence

Swati Aggarwal is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Molde University College. She completed her education in India before pursuing an international career in AI research.
As a recipient of the prestigious EU-funded Marie Curie postdoctoral grant - secured on her first attempt - she has made significant contributions in the field of AI. Her research focuses on AI applications in healthcare, cognitive computing, AI ethics, and Explainable AI.
During her postdoctoral work, she explored AI-powered Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI) and their potential for early detection of developmental issues in infants, which showed promising results in redefining pediatric healthcare. She also emphasizes the inclusion of AI ethics and Explainable AI in her work, highlighting the importance of responsible and transparent AI implementation.
At Molde University College, she established the research group "Applied, Basic, and Conscientious Artificial Intelligence," which focuses on bridging the gap between theoretical AI concepts and real-world applications, placing a strong emphasis on ethical AI development.
Swati has taught courses on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Evolutionary Computing, and Fuzzy Logic. She has also published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
Her research extends beyond healthcare, addressing complex societal challenges across multiple domains, including text analysis and multimedia processing, by leveraging AI-driven solutions.
Andrew Muteti Musau
Lecture: Communication in dictator and ultimatum game experiments

Andrew Musau joined the Faculty of Business Administration and Social Sciences at Molde University College as an associate professor of economics in the spring of 2021. In the fall of 2024, he was promoted to professor of economics.
He completed his PhD in Economics at the University of Trento under the supervision of Professor Luigi Mittone. During his doctoral studies, he worked as a research fellow at the University of Agder in Kristiansand, where he had previously earned his master's degree in Business Administration under the supervision of Professor Jochen Jungeilges.
Shortly after completing his PhD, he was employed as a postdoctoral researcher in energy economics at the University of Innlandet Norway in Lillehammer. His areas of interest include behavioural and experimental economics, energy economics, and macroeconomics.
Paulo Ribas
Lecture: Logistical challenges for offshore wind farms in Norway

Paulo Cesar Ribas completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2012, with his thesis focused on optimizing scheduling activities in a pipeline. His academic journey has cultivated a deep passion for operational research.
Starting with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Electrical Engineering with a focus on Electronics and Telecommunications from the Technological Federal University of Parana, Brazil, he continued to study Business Administration specializing in ERP systems. He also holds a Master of Science in Production Engineering and Systems, culminating in a thesis on a Simulated Annealing algorithm.
Ribas has a significant work history at Petrobras, where he contributed from 2006 to 2022 in various project-oriented roles within the Research and Development Center.
His research spanned Up-, Mid- and Downstream Logistics, addressing tasks such as tactical production planning optimization and scheduling of platforms and supply vessels.
He has published numerous papers and supervised a master's thesis while managing his research portfolio, ensuring alignment with key performance indicators and logistic needs.
Since August 2022, Ribas has been an associate professor at Molde University College, where he continues to teach and lead research initiatives. He has developed new courses focused on logistics in the energy sector and has engaged in significant international collaborations to address real-world challenges in energy logistics.
Ribas actively supervises both MSc and PhD students and is involved in various projects that align academia with industry requirements. His contributions to offshore wind energy logistics have led to recent publications and ongoing research efforts, highlighting his commitment to advancing this field.
To celebrate, we’ll serve cake and coffee. The lectures are open to anyone; no registration is needed. Welcome!
