Quality assurance teams

All study programmes must have a quality assurance team, consisting of student representatives and faculty members.

Each faculties’ quality assurance team:

Quality assurance teams should discuss the following topics:

  • academic content and organisation

  • teaching and pedagogical issues

  • the learning environment

  • quality assurance

  • evaluation of teaching and studies

The purpose of the quality assurance team is to:

  • ensure good contact and exchange of information between students and teaching staff /study programme management
  • be an arena for discussions of the structure, implementation, and further development of the study programme

Student representatives can represent students in several related study programmes. The quality assurance team supports the study programme coordinator in the management of the study programme.

The quality assurance teams do not have a formal decision-making authority but can be given authority in specific areas through special decisions.

All study programmes at HiMolde must have a quality assurance team. Normally, bachelor's and master's studies must have their own quality teams. The Faculty decides which studies should have a joint quality assurance team.

The faculty decides which faculty member shall participate in the quality assurance teams together with the study programme coordinator. There should be at least one faculty member in addition to the study programme coordinator. Students should not be in the minority at the meetings.

The study programme coordinator, in consultation with student representatives, will decide the number of meetings and the time of the meetings. There must be a minimum of two meetings per semester. Student representatives can request that a meeting be held in the quality assurance team.

The study programme coordinator sends out the notice and agenda one week before the meeting is to be held.

Student representatives shall have the opportunity to register cases that should be discussed in the teams. Fellow students can report cases to student representatives or directly to the study programme coordinator. Notice and agenda shall be made available to all students in the study programme. Representatives should discuss the issues with fellow students before the meeting of the quality assurance team.

The study programme coordinator must write minutes of the meetings, and share the minutes with the student representatives. The minutes must be made available in a place where future students also can read the minutes, preferably in the Study Programme pages in Canvas.

The minutes must be made available to all students in the study programme. The minutes must be reviewed at the next meeting and information is given on how cases have been followed up.

Student representatives shall provide fellow students with feedback on how cases are handled and followed up. Such feedback can be given in student meetings or in Canvas.

The quality assurance teams handle cases that deal with:

  • Teaching arrangements and pedagogical questions
  • The study and learning environment
  • Results from the Study Barometer and proposals for measures
  • Evaluation of courses, practice, and studies - proposals for measures
  • Planned changes in studies and subjects

The study programme coordinator should actively involve the students and ask for input on issues that are raised.

Matters concerning individuals (teachers, students) shall not be addressed in the quality team. Such matters must be handled with the subject teacher, study leader or dean, or reported to Speak Up.

Student representatives should be encouraged to attend any courses given for representatives.
